Our Story
Established in 2003 with humble beginnings as a kiosk at what was then Westfield Mall, The Orchid Lady grew through long hours, dedication, and a passion for orchids that transformed a small stall into a thriving enterprise.
In 2025, a new chapter began as Alicia Winegar took ownership, bringing fresh energy, refined expertise, and—customers may notice—a slightly warmer touch to the overall experience.
Alicia’s journey with plants began early in life while growing up in Upstate South Carolina. Her passion for nurturing and cultivating flora deepened over time, eventually leading her to Sarasota in 2023, where she and her family settled and she pursued her dream of working more fully in horticulture.
Her knowledge is grounded not just in enthusiasm, but in focused study and hands-on experience, particularly with orchids. Alicia’s commitment to excellence is further reflected in her membership in the American Orchid Society, an organization dedicated to the appreciation, cultivation, and conservation of orchids.
Alicia is supported every step of the way by her husband, Justin, and their two daughters, Adaline and Harper. Their encouragement and shared enthusiasm provide a strong foundation as she continues to grow the business.
Today, The Orchid Lady remains committed to quality, beauty, and attentive service—now paired with a renewed focus on creating a welcoming and approachable customer experience.
